Cosmetology and Barbering students at the Finishing Touch Salon located at the OWATC Roy campus gave back to the community in a big way.  They designated Wednesday, December 9, 2009 as “Customer Appreciation Day,” by offering free haircuts to all from 8:00 a.m. until 8:30 p.m.  More than 170 people took advantage of their giving spirit.  Students were busy all day cutting, trimming and shaving.  Even Santa made an appearance at the salon, located at 1843 W 4000 S Bldg. #2 in Roy, Utah.

Karen Skinner, instructor at the Roy facility said, “It was wonderful to have an opportunity for the students and staff  to thank the community for being so supportive of our new salon.  It was nice too that we could show off our newly remodeled  facility.”

The salon was created for students in the last phase of the Cosmetology program to give students the opportunity to learn how to run a salon, order products, make appointments and learn about state laws.  The Barbering program began last year and the number of students taking advantage of the 1000 hour program has steadily increased.  All salon services including coloring, perming, pedicures, nails and facials are offered to the public at very affordable prices.  The Barbering students offer haircuts and shaves.
