Machining and Cosmetology Take Top Honors

Students from the Ogden-Weber Tech College were proud to bring back 23 medals from the State SkillsUSA completion last month.  Eleven gold medal winners will go on to compete at the National SkillsUSA competition in Kansas City this summer.

Cosmetology students in both the Secondary and Post-Secondary divisions took all the medals in a very good ongoing run for that program.  Students have consistently placed high and have gone on to place in national and world competitions.  Machining students took five gold medals in Precision Machining, CNC Milling and CNC Turning.  They too have had a consistently excellent showing in the competitions.

Students from the new YouthBuild program that has only been in operation since last September, took second place in Teambuilding, and Christopher Milroy, a YouthBuild student, placed first in Teamworks, and will be competing at the national level as well.

SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce. SkillsUSA helps each student excel.
