It was a packed house at the 2012 Spring Graduation as graduates, family, friends, faculty and staff gathered to honor the newest recipients for Ogden-Weber Applied Technology College Certificates and AAT Degree Diplomas. The venue was moved to the Multi-Purpose facility because numbers have been steadily increasing and the Lecture Hall could no longer accommodate everyone. This year 515 students graduated in 20 different programs and 52 various training outlines.
College President, Collette Mercier, congratulated students on their accomplishments and noted that four graduates had also been inducted into the National Technical Honor Society. She recognized six students for completing the AAT degrees in Information Technology and Computer Aided Drafting and Design and seven students who completed two programs.
Commencement speaker, Dr. Spencer Ferrin, an alumni Medical Assisting student, encouraged students to take what they have learned and continue to further their education. He stated that his experience at the tech college greatly enhanced his ability to apply for medical school. “Whenever I applied for another program, I was always asked about and complimented on my experience and training at the tech college.”
Other speakers included Marta Jones, an alumni nursing student and currently the Coordinator for the Certified Nursing program at the tech college, and Melinda Olson, a graduate and Student Ambassador. Both expressed what an honor it was to be asked to speak about their experiences at the college and their gratitude for the care and concern of instructors who made all the difference.
