The 48th Annual National SkillsUSA competition was held the last week of June in Kansas City, Missouri. More than 20,000 people converged on Bartle Hall to watch and participate in this outstanding event. Nearly 6,000 outstanding career and technical education students – all state contest winners, competed hands-on in 94 different trade, technical and leadership fields. All 50 states and Puerto Rico were represented.
Students work against the clock and each other, proving their expertise in occupations like electronics, computer-aided drafting, precision machining, medical assisting and culinary arts. Ogden-Weber Tech College had ten students compete in seven different competitions. Johna Howard earned a gold medal in Dental Assisting and Dannie Ybarra also took gold for Job Demonstration.
