Things were sizzling outside the Union Building as three competitors grilled their way to creating the perfect burger in the first annual “Build a Better Burger” competition. The burgers created included the Mousehouse Five Cheese Burger, the Peppered Skirt Burger and the Cowboy burger.
“The judges had a difficult time selecting a winner because they were all fantastic,” said Judy Hudak, Head Chef for the Culinary Arts program and sponsor of the event. “We finally had to award the prize to the most creative burger.”
Gold medal winner for the competition went to Danielle Wright (pictured below) for her Mousehouse burger which was a seasoned brat patty stuffed with Wisconsin Mousehouse super sharp cheddar topped with beer marinated caramelized onions and four additional Mousehouse cheeses: Igor’s Heat, White Cheddar Cranberry, Colby and Smoked Baby Swiss, which she had flown in from Wisconsin for the event.
Congratulations to Tom Hewitt and Chris Anderson for their outstanding efforts as well. Watch for the Iron Chef competition to be held later this year.
