Four hundred parents and high school students attended a “Parent Night” to visit the college campus, learn more about technical education and explore program areas. Faculty and staff were busy all evening meeting with families to answer questions about specific programs and provide tours of the labs.
A brief orientation every twenty minutes gave attendees the opportunity to hear general information about the college, requirements for enrollment, and how to get free tuition while still in high school. Many parents commented that they had no idea there were so many options for high school students and were pleased to hear their students could save thousands of dollars by enrolling during their high school years.
There was an energetic buzz in the air as parents and students moved from orientation to program exploration. Janet Olsen, Program Director, said, “We love to be here on nights like this because we’re talking to people who are genuinely interested in our programs and we get to see how excited they are to get started.”
Andrew Brown, Recruitment Specialist, was flooded with phone calls the following day by parents wanting to set up appointments to begin the enrollment process. “It will be exciting to track these students to see how many enroll over the new two years,” said Brown.
“This is the best single recruiting event ever,” said Elsa Zweifel, Director of Marketing. “We have had good response to Parent Nights in the past, but this one was extraordinary.”
