Letter to OWATC Employees
from President Brent Wallis, September 29, 2005:

WE HIT A HOME RUN
WITH THE COE ACCREDITATION SITE VISIT TEAM!

Congratulations to each an every one of you for your hard work and efforts in helping us achieve A PERFECT SCORE--no recommendations whatsoever, an almost unheard of feat.

We also received four commendations for our strong interaction and relationships with our business partners; efforts to provide a seamless education with our public and higher education partners; consistent and strong strategic planning; and effective use of the skill labs in our programs areas.

This past year has been filled with challenges, late nights, and struggles as we worked to complete our COE accreditation crates, but it was worth every minute as the Steering Committee heard the Site Team's comments this morning. Standard after standard, we heard the same thing: "No recommendations." It was truly gratifying to hear objective individuals with years of technical education experience tell us that we are an outstanding example and leader in our field.

The COE Team does not accredit the school--the Council on Occupational Education has that authority. Dr. Linda Barrow, team leader, will compile her final report next week, send it to the Council, and the Council will vote on our accreditation in November 2005. I will notify you of our standing as soon as I receive word.

I am still almost speechless with amazement and awe, but I wanted to thank each and every one of you for helping us get to this great moment. We have been recognized by our peers, and we are truly an outstanding ATC. Every organization is only as good as its people, and I am fortunate and blessed to have you. Again, I thank you and salute you for this achievement.
