What Success Looks Like...

On January 24, 2006, Ogden-Weber Applied Technology College and Mirabella Beauty teamed up to sponsor and host a Celebrity Look Alike Competition at the Roy salon. Students from both the Ogden and Roy campuses, as well as student from the Davis Applied Technology College and New Horizons Beauty College in Logan, were invited to compete.

In preparation for this contest, students learned to contour and highlight facial features in order to best match up to the picture of the celebrity they chose. Some of the judging categories were:

  • Most beautiful makeup application
  • Best look alike
  • Most creative
  • Best recreation
  • Most over the edge
  • Best glam look
  • Best eyes

Competitors chose a variety of celebrities to model after including Marilyn Monroe, Queen Latifah, Kelly Clarkson, and Nicole Kidman.

The overall winner of the contest was Elicia Medina, a cosmetology student from the Ogden campus. Her prize was $75 in Mirabella products and the change to be a platform guest artist at the Mirabella Makeup Booth at their next show. Congratulations to all who competed in this fun and educational event!

For those interested, the OWATC will soon begin offering a continuing education makeup academy to students, licensed professionals, and local day spas. The instruction will include corrective, theatrical, and photographic makeup techniques. The class will be taught by Jim Chambers, OWATC Cosmetology Instructor/Educator for Mirabella.
