OWATC'S 150,000th TEST PILOT RECOGNIZED

Benjamin Apponsah, an Electronics student at OWATC, took the 150,000th test on the College's online testing system, "Test Pilot", on Wednesday evening, July 6th, 2005.

Test Pilot is the name of the online testing software IDT purchased and set up almost five years ago, which now averages about 5,000 tests per month. The system allows instructors to create tests for their courses which students can take on the computer. The software has a lot of capabilities including randomly selecting questions from a test bed, randomizing the distractors on multiple choice questions, providing feedback to the student, automatically scoring the exam, and sending an e-mail of the student's score to the instructor when an exam has been taken. A number of programs use Test pilot including AMT, Cabinetmaking, Culinary Arts, Cosmetology, Business Technology, Material Handling, Nursing, and Welding to name a few.

Benjamin Apponsah is an adult student originally from Ghana , Africa taking courses in the electronics program in preparation for entering the
OWATC Biomedical Equipment Technician Program this fall.

Instructors felt that the 150,000th test was a significant milestone to commemorate and they will do the same for the 200,000th test. A recent upgrade to the system makes it easier for instructors to track exactly when such a milestone is reached and which student
took the test to get to that point.

Congratulations to Mr. Apponsah for taking the 150,000th test and
receiving a special gift to commemorate the occasion.
