Electrical Trades Preparation
Posted By webmaster On December 16, 2008 @ 4:21 pm In | Comments Disabled
Electricians are highly paid skilled craftsmen that are responsible for electrical distribution systems. This job field is currently in very high demand.
While the Apprenticeships meet the need of individuals who are already working in industry, the Electrical Trades Preparation Certificate was developed to meet the preparatory needs of individuals who are not yet employed in the field. The Electrician Trades Preparation Certificate allows high school and adult students to gain knowledge and hands-on experience before entering an Apprenticeship program. This serves a three fold purpose:
The first is to provide employers with a trained workforce having superior entry-level skills. Second is a training program to help high school and adult students decide if the electrical trades are the right pathway for them. Finally, this certificate provides an accelerated program to meet the education requirements of the state licensing board.
The Electrical program also provides several 16-hour continuing education and exam preparation courses to meet the needs of the States’ Re-licensing requirements. Continuing education and electrician technician education is offered in an open-entry, open-exit, competency-based format.
In Electrical Trades Preparation, students learn about construction and maintenance environments, bending conduit, running wire, installing electrical devices, servicing, and distributing equipment in compliance with the National Electrical Code for an entry-level job in the electrical field. Training can be directly applied as credit towards completion of the state’s Electrical Apprenticeship schooling. The approximate completion time for the Electrician Certificate is 900 hours or 7.5 months at 30 hours per week and maintaining 100% progress.
