HVAC Service Technology

HVAC Service Technicians install, service, and troubleshoot heating, ventilation, air-conditioning and refrigeration equipment and controls. To become a certified journey-level HVAC service technician you must complete 8000 hours of on-the-job training with an employer and 810 hours of related classroom instruction at the Ogden-Weber ATC. Students who complete the program will receive local, state and industry certification that is recognized throughout the United States.

The OWATC HVAC Service Technology Certificate of Proficiency will prepare students for entry-level employment into the diverse and multifacted heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration industry. Completion of this certificate will prepare individuals to obtain employment as a HVAC Service Technician Apprentice.

The competencies included in this certificate parallel those found in the apprenticeship program, and students who complete this certificate will be given credit for 450 hours of the 810 hours required to complete the HVAC Service Technician Apprenticeship Certificate.
