HVACR Service Technicians install, service, and troubleshoot heating, ventilation, air-conditioning and refrigeration equipment and controls. Students who complete the program will receive local, state and industry certification that is recognized throughout the United States.
Although an apprenticeship requires students to have an employer sponsor, students may begin this program without an employer sponsor. As soon as students are employed in the HVAC industry, the Office of Apprenticeship will work with your employer to complete the application so they can become an apprentice sponsor. The process is free and very simple. Apprentices must complete on-the-job training to obtain a certificate of completion from the Office of Apprenticeship up to 8000 hours.
As an HVACR Service Technician Apprentice, students will be installing, diagnosing, and repairing temperature control systems including residential/commercial heating, ventilation, air conditioners, refrigerators, and other equipment. Students read wiring schematics and analyze building control and air distribution equipment. The approximate completion time for the HVACR Service Technician Residential Apprentice Related Instruction Certificate is 600 hours of classroom training. To complete the HVACR Service Technician Commercial Apprentice Related Instruction Certificate you must first complete the Residential Certificate.
Students gain valuable employer-requested skills when the college partners with industry employers. Employers advise the faculty on up-to-date processes and knowledge.
