
NOTE: This information is in regards to the Clinical Lab class. This is not a full program at the tech college.
The Clinical Laboratory Assistant Program (CLA) is designed to teach core laboratory skills. Participants will acquire a basic working knowledge of laboratory tests, methodologies, instrumentation principles, and basic phlebotomy skills. Students will have the ability to perform both waived and moderate level complexity tests in all areas of the laboratory. Upon successful completion of this course participants will receive a CLA Certificate from Weber State University’s Dr. Ezekiel R. Dumke College of Health Professions. Students who are interested in pursuing further education in the field are encouraged to continue their studies at Weber State University. Upon acceptance to WSU and the Medical Laboratory Science Program, students who successfully complete this course will have the opportunity to receive 3 semester credits.

Admission Requirements
- Accuplacer reading score of 72, DRP (Degree of Reading Power) 70, or ACT reading score of 22.
- Accuplacer math score of 65, ACT math score of 17, TABE 80%, or successful completion of OWATC Math I course.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: If you are enrolling in any health occupation program, any misdemeanor or felony conviction relating to drug offenses, assault/violent crimes, sexual assault, fraud, or theft that you have on your record, will result in the college not being able to place you in a clinical or externship site. As a result, you will not be able to complete the program. See your program coordinator for more detailed information.
