Admission Requirements
There are no specific admission requirements for this certificate.
- High school students and adults seeking federal financial aid may need to complete additional testing.
- Students are encouraged to meet with an academic counselor before enrolling to discuss abilites, needs and interests.
The barbering program is designed to provide competency-based knowledge, scientific/artistic principles and hands on fundamentals associated with the barbering industry. Students learn shaving, mustache/beard design as well as cutting hair, using razors, shears and clippers. Special attention is given to hygiene, skin and scalp disorders, anatomy, sterilization and sanitation, and salon operation. This program emphasizes safe and efficient work practices, basic occupational and employability skills. This 1000 clock hour program provides students with a solid foundation, along with skills, techniques, ethics and the values needed to be a successful barber. Upon completion of the program, graduates are able to pass the state licensing examinations.
Note:Â Students need to purchase their books and kit in the college Bookstore prior to their first day of class.

What's Happening in the Program
Fred Martinez has been a licensed barber for 31 years and has been with the Ogden-Weber Tech College for 13 years. Fred is over the Barbering program. He instructs various techniques in barbering, men’s haircutting, facial shaves, etc.
