The College offers Math 950, Math 990 and Math 1010 for transfer to Weber State University at both the Ogden and Roy locations. The math classes are taught in an open entry/open exit format, which means that you can start at any time, attend as many hours a week as you choose and you finish when you complete the course requirements. For some students that means attending for two hours a night twice a week, while others attend an hour or two every day of the week.
The program is designed to be completed in approximately one year; this equates to each of the three classes taking approximately four months. Depending on how quickly you work and absorb the material, you may take anywhere from a few months to a year to complete one class.
The courses are taught through workbooks or packets, supported by one-on-one instruction. Each packet has instruction and examples, practice problems, and answers to all the exercises. During class time, you can work one-on-one with the teacher to go over difficult concepts. It is expected that you will do homework outside of class, but all tests are taken during your regular class schedule. All tests must be passed with a score of 80% or better.
Packets are available at the college bookstore. Your instructor will let you know what packets you need, depending on your in-class assessment.

Ken Choi has a Master of Mathematics (MMath) from Utah State University. He has been teaching math for over 15 years. His passion is to help students gain a better understanding of math and their confidence in learning math.

Lori Jo Webster is a full-time math teacher at OWATC and also teaches part-time at Weber State University (WSU). She has bachelor’s degrees in Education and Mathematics from WSU. She has been teaching math since 2007. “I struggled with math in school, so I was quite surprised that I became a math teacher. In college I discovered that I didn’t hate math; I was frustrated and discouraged because I didn’t really understand it. Once I had the time to really learn what I was doing, to understand not just memorize, I discovered a love of math that I want to share with others.”
