Course Descriptions

As a Nail Technician, you will be working in a beauty salon or nail shop performing customer services such as manicures, pedicures, and applying artificial nails. Upkeep and repair of artificial nails is a skill requirement as well as working with all types of people efficiently and maintaining successful customer relations. As a Nail Technician, you will be required to earn and maintain a state license. Further information about licensing can be found online at www.dopl.utah.gov.The approximate completion time for the Nail Technician Certificate is 300 hours or 3 months at 30 hours per week and maintaining 100% progress.

 

Admission Requirements

There are no specific admission requirements for this certificate.

  • High school students and adults seeking federal financial aid may need to complete additional testing.
  • Students are encouraged to meet with an academic counselor before enrolling to discuss abilites, needs, and interests.

Note:  Students need to purchase their books and kit in the college Bookstore prior to their first day of class.

Your Instructor(s)

Kristine Howell is the Nail Tech Instructor at our salon. She has been in the beauty industry for 12 years, 8 of those being at the Ogden-Weber Tech College. Kristine has won several national and international nail art competitions and had her work featured in various trade magazines. Kristine loves the time she spends teaching. When she is not teaching, her heaven is making lamp work beads and turning them into beautiful pieces of art for people to wear. Kristine also enjoys traveling and spending time with her family. “Nothing excites me more than seeing my students realize their own greatness. I love watching each of my students learn and progress. When they are successful, I am successful!”
