About Cabinetmaking and Millwork:
Cabinetmaking and millwork are both in very high demand right now . Last year, construction created more new jobs in Utah than in any other industry. The result is that local companies and cabinet shops need people at an unprecedented rate, and wages are very good. Our biggest problem right now—and it’s a happy problem—is that we have far more jobs than students. In the last year, employers called regularly to find out if we had any students they could hire. Another great thing about this program is that it is primarily hands-on. Many students enter this program because they are hands-on learners and have been frustrated in a traditional classroom environment. The great news is that these same students tend to excel in this program, and their natural talents and interests translate into skills that are highly valued in the workplace.

What's Happening in
Cabinetmaking and Millwork: We have fun in the classroom, and get to work on some great projects like the “Little Lodge” cabin, seen above. We constructed it for the Festival of Trees to benefit Primary Children’s Hospital and broke a festival record. It sold for over $20,000 at the auction. We also build a complete house every year giving our students, who graduate from the program, real-world experience and the ability to find great jobs.

Meet Your Instructor
Hello, I’m Ken Foote and this is a picture of me in the Cabinetry and Millworking lab. I received my training at the OWATC and have been an instructor here for 9 years. I really enjoy working with students and helping them learn about cabinet making. If you are interested in cabinetmaking, please give me a call because I would enjoy the chance to discuss this great program with you.
