The Assessment Center’s objectives are to help students:
- Make better and more accurate decisions regarding their technical education as well as their future.
- Save time and money as they pursue and complete their technical education.
- Obtain good paying jobs faster.
The Assessment Center is a place students can go to take any pre-enrollment assessments. Any time during their education at the tech college, students can schedule an appointment to assess their interests, personality, and aptitudes as they relate to career options. In addition, they can check their ability to perform math, reading, English, and other skills required by many employers.
The following assessment activities are available to currently enrolled students at no charge:
- Aptitude and academic skills exploration
- Finger-hand dexterity skills evaluations
- Personality assessment (as it relates to careers)
- Interest exploration
(Note: Students not currently enrolled should contact the Assessment Center for more information and an assessment fee schedule).
Computerized Career Exploration
If students are unsure about which technical education program and occupation is best for them, they can schedule a career exploration assessment This free service is available in the Assessment Center.
The objectives of this service are to help students:

- Learn more about the jobs that match their interests and abilities.
- Decide how and where to best apply their new technical skills.
To do this, students enter basic information about themselves (such as skills, talents, limitations) into a computer. Then, the computer provides them with detailed options that meet their needs and match their career goals.
The service is also available 24 hours a day 7 days a week via the internet at www.utahfutures.org
If a student does not have access to the internet or would like help with accessing or using the system to discover the test results, they should visit the Assessment Center located in the Business Building in Room BU116 or the Student Success Center located in the Student Union Building.
