About the Student Success Center

Ogden-Weber Tech College offers one-on-one career preparation services through its Student Success Center.  The center is free to all current and former students and can work directly with them to:

  • Develop and refine resumes, cover letters, and portfolios.
  • Participate in mock interviews.
  • Access the Tech College job board and other job listings online or  jog fair and career opportunity information.
  • Prepare for employment through job search coaching, company research, resume development and application.
  • Attend specialized workshops designed to prepare students to land a great job!
  • Prepare for the annual on-campus career fair to put their best foot forward when meeting the employers.
  • Fax, email, and call prospective employers.

Students can make their job search more efficient and successful, by following the six steps listed below:

  1. Visit the Student Success Center
    Visiting the Student Success Center will give students more time to prepare their portfolios, develop their job search skills and learn about new job openings.
  2. Learn about Local Companies
    Learn more about local companies now hiring new employees. Knowledge about what companies are involved in and the types of jobs they have will help students be better directed in their education, job search, and interview process. Targeting specific employers who hire people having their desired job skills will streamline a student’s job search and save time.
  3. Develop Job Search Skills
    Learn how to conduct themselves and be successful in a job interview, and how to conduct themselves on the job. Upgrading their job search and workplace skills will make students an even more valuable asset in the job market.
  4. Attend our Free and Informative Workshops
    The workshops are held on a regular basis and offered during the lunch hours: 11:00 to 12:00 and again 12:00 to 1:00.
  5. Apply for Jobs Related to Technical Education Field
    Throughout their training, utilize the Student Success Center  to fill develop their resume, cover letters, practice interviewing, and submitting job applications.
  6. Follow-Up on All Employment Opportunities
    After students have submitted each application and completed each job interview, students must make a follow-up contact. Learn how to conduct important follow-up activities.

Student Success Center Workshops

The Student Success Center provides free on-site workshops monthly.  Students and alumni can sign up to attend.  Most workshops include free lunch!  Click on the links below to view the PowerPoint presentations for the “Smorgasbord for Success” and other workshop series:
