Melinda Olsen – Medical Assisting

Melinda Olsen is 43 years old and a single mother of two teenagers.  She graduated from Bear River High School before most of the students were born and has been in the workforce since then.  After losing her job last year,  she decided it was time for a career change and decided to further her education.  Because of her experience as a Certified EMT for nine years and caring for her ailing mother, she decided to go into the medical field.  After extensive searching and speaking with people, she chose the Ogden-Weber Tech College and applied to the Medical Assisting program.  She was accepted and entered the program in April of 2011.  Melinda expects to have her classroom clinicals and externship completed just in time to graduate in May, 2012.  After graduation, she looks forward to a new chapter in her life and being able to work anywhere in the country as a certified Medical Assistant.  Melinda loves the instructors in the MA program and feels very blessed to have such great peers.  She enjoys the caring attitude of everyone at the College and is proud to represent the students as an ambassador.
