Credit Transfer & Articulation

Updated September 21st, 2011

Changing Your Program

You must meet with a college counselor if you want to change your current program. The counselor will fill out a change of program form for you and your sponsor to sign if they deem the change appropriate. Most program changes will require a schedule change.

High School and College Students

The college currently offers articulation (transfer of credits) with Ogden City and Weber County School Districts as well as Weber State University. High school students must check with their CTE Coordinator to determine which of the high school classes are articulated with the tech college. For Weber State University articulation or concurrent enrollment, contact the Student Records Office for an up-to-date listing.

Transferring Credit to the College

Students wanting consideration through a transfer must be: registered, submit a certificate, and/or official transcript, or document from an accredited institution providing evidence to substantiate the course competency.

Letter grades are not issued for transfer credit.  See:  Grading System page for additional details.

How to request credit consideration:

  1. Register at the tech college.
  2. Submit an official transcript by mail or in person to the Registrar. Official transcripts require a sealed envelope.
  3. Submit a transfer credit application form to the Registrar or an Enrollment Advisor.  The form is available for download here:  Transfer Credit Application Form 2012

Note:  Student transcripts will be reviewed and the tech college will notify students by phone or mail.

Transferring College Coursework to your High School

High school students who attend classes at the tech college earn credits that apply toward their graduation. Prior to enrollment, high school students must have their tech college classes reviewed and approved by the CTE Coordinator at their high school. High school students wanting transfer credit are required to submit an official transcript upon enrollment.

Transferring College Coursework to your General Education Development (GED)

Some courses offered at the tech college can be transferred toward your General Education Development (GED) if you are not a high school student, and do not have a high school diploma. For more information about a GED, contact the Weber Adult Education Office at 801-627-8447 or 801-395-3746 or the Ogden Adult Education Office 801-737-7458 or 801-737-7456.

Transferring your College Coursework to Weber State University

Some courses offered at the tech college can be transferred to Weber State University, as long as: 1) the courses are identified in the University’s articulation agreement or 2) you enroll at WSU and submit your transcripts and application to WSU within a year of completing your tech college courses.

Those seeking credit through WSU for coursework completed at the tech college must take these steps:

  1. Gain admission and register as a student at Weber State University. You may apply through the WSU Admissions Office or call and request that an application be mailed to you. Location: Weber State University Admissions Office, Student Services Bldg. Phone: 801-626-6743.
  2. Send an official transcript directly to the WSU Admissions Office, 1137 through the college’s Records Office. The WSU Admissions Office is located in Ogden, Utah, 84408-1137. They will evaluate your transcript according to the agreement between WSU and the tech college. A packet with the evaluation of the transcript will be sent to you.
  3. Bring or send the entire evaluation packet to the WSU Admissions Office and pay a $10.00 recording fee. The credit will be posted on your WSU transcript at the end of the quarter.

(Note: A list of all tech college courses that are transferable to WSU is available in the Enrollment or Records Offices.)
