Requirements

The tech college serves all individuals on an equal opportunity basis.  Individuals who can benefit from technical education have an opportunity to enroll in courses, but not necessarily all programs. Students should contact the Enrollment office to determine requirements for specific programs or courses of interest. Due to federal requirements; the tech college does not currently accept international students. A high school diploma is not required to enroll in most programs.

Steps to Enroll

  1. Meet with a Pre-enrollment Advisor or Counselor if needed
  2. Apply for financial aid by completing the FASFA application
  3. Pay a non-refundable $45.00 enrollment fee
  4. Complete assessment testing
  5. View an online orientation and attend a program orientation (for most programs).
  6. Pay appropriate monthly tuition and fees. If you are planning to enroll in programs such as Apprenticeships, Practical Nursing, Nursing Assistant, Driver’s Education, Pharmacy Technician, or Real Estate, you must pay for the entire class term.
  7. Visit the Enrollment Office to enroll in classes and obtain a copy of your schedule

The enrollment office is open 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday for new enrollments.  Walk-ins are welcome. You may make an appointment to complete testing, counseling, and career exploration prior to enrollment (if needed) by calling 801-627-8300.

Adults without high school diplomas are strongly encouraged to enroll in the General Educational Development (GED) program. The Weber School District offers this program while attending your technical education courses at the tech college. Completing the GED improves a student’s opportunity for being offered a job and earning more money. For details about the GED program or class locations, call Weber Adult Education at 801-476-3930.

High School Students

Steps to Enroll

If your cumulative GPA is above 3.0 you can use the following procedure:

  1. Talk to your high school counselor about attending the Ogden-Weber Tech College.
  2. Meet with the Career and Technical Education (CTE) Coordinator at your high school about the technical education options available to you.
  3. Review your transcript with the CTE Coordinator to determine if any of your high school classes will transfer to the tech college. These classes will be listed on the Ogden-Weber Tech College enrollment authorization form.
  4. Schedule an appointment with a tech college counselor through your CTE Coordinator for medical or dental programs. All other programs bring:
    1. High school transcript
    2. Ogden-Weber Tech College enrollment authorization form
  5. View an online orientation and attend a program orientation (for most programs).
  6. Meet with an Enrollment Advisor to complete the enrollment process.  The Enrollment office is open 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday for new enrollments.

If your cumulative grade point average (GPA) is less than 3.0, you are required to test prior to entering the tech college.

High school students may enroll and attend day or evening courses during the school year and/or during the summer after qualifying through their local school. If you are interested in taking classes, you may initiate the enrollment process by meeting with your high school counselor and then contacting the Career and Technical Education Coordinator at your school.  You must be 16 years of age or have completed your sophomore year.

High school students may also participate in the Apprenticeship programs with an authorization form from the sponsoring high school Career and Technical Education Coordinator. Home and private schooled students may be authorized through their local school district.

Please be aware that not all programs are available to high school students and some programs have additional enrollment requirements.

Fee Waiver

Students who currently receive a fee waiver at their high school may also receive a fee waiver for many of the programs at the tech college by obtaining a letter from their CTE Coordinator. The letter must be on school letterhead indicating that the student qualifies for the fee waiver. The student must bring the letter to the Enrollment office during registration.

Concurrent Enrollment

The tech college offers several courses that are eligible for concurrent enrollment with Weber State University. In order to participate in the concurrent enrollment program, students must obtain a concurrent enrollment packet from the instructor listed for the class they will be attending. These courses apply to future, current, and/or those not older than one year from the completion date.
