Real Estate Agent (Pre-Licensing)

The Real Estate course is designed to train in the areas of real estate that will prepare you for taking the Utah real estate agent test to become a licensed real estate agent. This is the initial step to launching a new career that allows you the freedom of self-employment on your schedule, with the financial rewards geared to your specific goals. The 120-hour course consists of 55 two-hour modules. Review tests are included with a final school exam that must be passed with a grade of 75%.

Utah law requires that students complete a 120-hour educational course before they take the Utah real estate licensing exam. This state test has a passing requirement of 70% and an 18 year old age requirement plus G.E.D.

When can I start? What is the class structure?
The 120‐hour real estate program is an instructor‐led course to prepare you for the state licensing test. Instruction is instructor‐led and focused on our geographic area. Each day you’ll have lectures on specific topics and homework assignments. Practice quizzes are given throughout the course to ensure you understand the curriculum. You must pass a final exam to complete the course.
What days and times are the classes?
Evening class ‐ 6:00 ‐ 10:00 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday for 9 weeks, depending on holidays.
What happens if I miss a class?
You must schedule a make‐up day with the instructor. You will view a recorded session of the class you missed. This allows you to miss you or two class sessions, but it’s not meant for extended absences.
How will I find a job after I pass my state test?
After passing your test, the instructor will work with you for job placement. You’ll talk about your goals and the instructor will match you with a few real estate companies. You’ll receive questions to prepare you for the interview, as well as questions to ask the real estate broker. Most of the major real estate companies are on our advisory board and seek out our employees.
Who are the instructors?
Jared Payne is the program coordinator and teaches the day classes and evening course. He has over 10 years of experience and works as a real estate broker specializing in mergers and acquisitions.

Jared Payne has been licensed for 14 years, and has brokered over 2.000 transactions. He has specialized in Re-Sale, New Construction, Investment, and Development transactions. His extensive understanding and experience in online marketing and lead generations has lead multiple advances inside the industry. Jared is frequently asked to speak to groups in the Real Estate, Mortgage, Title, M&A, and Service Industries to share his knowledge and best practices.

Jared has taught the Real Estate Agent and Broker Pre-License course for over 7 years. In his tenure he has taught over 700 students in Salt Lake, Davis, and Weber counties. Jared has achieved the title of Senior Real Estate Instructor with the Ogden-Weber Applied Tech college through his dedication to real estate education. He believes that students learn and retain more intelligence through focus and fun, and he has designed his courses to echo these principles.

Jared has a Bachelor’s of Administration from the University of Utah, and has earned post degree certifications and designations in Valuations, Marketing, Real Estate Disposition, Financing and Transaction Management. Jared places high value on integrity, education and client advocacy.
